We are so proud of all the learners whom took part in this photographic competition on the 16th and 17th of January.

We had 20 learners entering the competition from Lewis-Flack Training and their brief was to produce a commercial cut and colour. Students will be judged on their total look with 60% given for the Cut and Finish and 40% for the Colour.

Stage 1 Academy Heat to be judged by Wednesday 25th January 2012
Stage 2 Photographic Deadline Friday 27th January 2012
Stage 3 The Final Thursday 7th June 2012

We will be judging the Lewis-Flack Training section of the competition on Wednesday 25th January 2012 and we will send in our 5 entries which will then be judged by Wella from entries from all over the North of England colleges and private training academies. They will then select 20 pictures that have made it through to the heats in Manchester which are then held on Friday 2nd March 2012 and the Finals are on Thursday 7th June in London.

This on trend competition incorporating men’s photographic and grooming work took place of the 13th of November at ‘The Point’ Manchester. Wigs and Warpaint had 3 entrants this year. Ben Howe, Claire Flack and Luke Beaumont. The rest of the team were there in force to support our brilliant barbers. The entrants were scrutinized by the two American crew judges from the USA and two Hair Dressing Journal judges. Only 20 were handpicked from over 700 entrants, with 6 being form the Steel City its self. Of the 6 from Sheffield 2 of the finalists are Wigs very own Claire and Luke who’s entries wowed the judges with their edgy style. We are very proud of all those who took part in the event as it took lots of time, creative input and passion to make it happen.

The finals will take place in London towards the end of December. Watch this space for an update on how your favourite wigs get on.

Wednesday the 2nd of November saw the wigs team treated to another training session, this time with Australian-born Joseph Ferraro who has made a name for himself since setting up HALO of Harrogate with business partner Chris Burton in 2006. The acclaimed cutter and expert colourist is a member of the 2011 F.A.M.E Team (Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence)

As a finalist in both the North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year Competition and the Young Hairdresser of the Year contest in 2010, Joseph is also a member of the prestigious Sebastian Cult Team and regularly works at London Fashion Week with top designers including Henry Holland and David Koma.

Joseph and Claire worked side by side and gave the team an update on the newest cutting and colouring technices that the industry has to offer. It was another excellent training session, bringing the wigs up to speed with further on trend styles.

Claire said of the event "We are constantly bringing in session stylists to assist in the training of our staff in the most up and coming trends. It is the best way to make our stylists aware of what is hot for the new seasons cutting and colouring techniques."

The next seminar will be held by Bumble and Bumble on the 23rd of November where one of Bumbles highly qualified styling experts will be training the Wigs team. Models for hair ups only will be required for this event. Please contact Maria on 0114 2700336 to register your interest.

Claire Flack was given the opportunity to work with the Sebastian team to deliver the most exquisite hair designs for the Coterie show at Londons fashion week on the 18th of September 2011.

The designer for the event was Jayne Pierson, whom brought fabulous day and night wear to the cat walk. The models were made up of the Royal ballet and danced every piece with amazing grace.

It was Claire's fist time at London's fashion week and she relished every minuet. Claire said 'It was amazing to be given this opportunity and feel part of something so special. The models were so professional and had perfect hair for the brief given by Jayne herself, which was then translated perfectly by Dom Capel the art director for the event. I hope to join the team again for next years event'.
