How Much Does Balayage Cost?

Balayage is one of our most-requested colour services at Wigs & Warpaint in Sheffield, and the honest answer on price is that it depends on your hair and the result you want. Balayage is a skilled, hand-painted service, so it sits above a basic all-over tint, and your exact price always comes from a free consultation.

What Affects the Price

  • Hair length and thickness — longer, thicker hair takes more product and time, the biggest single factor.
  • How much lift you want — going several shades lighter, or correcting previous colour, takes longer.
  • Toner and gloss — most balayage includes toning to perfect the finish.
  • Add-ons — a bond treatment such as K18 or a cut and finish add to the total.
  • Stylist level — senior colourists may be priced differently from our wider team.

Don't Forget Upkeep

Balayage is lower-maintenance than highlights, but budget for a toner or gloss top-up every few weeks to keep it fresh (see our balayage aftercare guide). It's a small cost that protects the bigger one.

Is It Worth It?

Because balayage grows out softly with no harsh line, you can often go longer between full appointments than with foils, which spreads the cost. Done well, it's colour that looks expensive and lasts.
