Balayage Hair Colour Explained: Book Now at Wigs & Warpaint Hair Salon in Sheffield

One of the most asked-for hair colours at our award-winning hair salon in Sheffield is Balayage – and it’s not to difficult to understand why!

This effortlessly cool, low-maintenance hair colour service is a great way of accentuating your hairstyle and facial features. Sound up your street? Here, we explain all you need to know before you take the plunge…

What is Balayage Hair Colour?

Balayage is a way of painting soft, natural looking highlights throughout your hair. The free-hand technique allows us to put your highlights exactly where they are needed. It will give you hair a beautiful natural look with no hard lines.

Babylights, Root Stretch and Balayage…What’s the Difference?

Balayage goes by many names. Your Wigs & Warpaint colour specialist will understand exactly what you want if you mention balayage, babylights, baby balayage, root melt, root stretch, colour melt or free-hand highlights.  If you’ve seen a look you love, show the image to your colour technician so we can adapt it perfectly for you.

How Should I Prepare for My Balayage Hair Colour Appointment?

Book in for a full, free consultation at our Sheffield salon so we can assess the condition of your hair and advise you on what is achievable.  The health of your hair is always a priority for us. We will also ask you to come in for a quick skin test at least 48 hours before your hair colour appointment to make sure you will not suffer any reactions to the chemical processes.

How Long Does a Balayage Appointment Take?

Your appointment will take at least two hours, depending on whether we are adding balayage throughout your hair or just to the bits we can see (half a head, for example).  If your hair is damaged, your appointment will take longer as we will work with you to improve the condition of your hair so it is ready for the colouring process.

Balayage Hair Colour – Any ‘Downsides’?

The great news is that this is a relatively low-maintenance look.  Your Balayage would need to be re-done at least 3 times a year with a 6-week colour glossing touch-up to freshen it up in between visits.
